ਮਨ ਰੇ ਗਹਿਓ ਨ ਗੁਰ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ।।
ਕਹਾ ਭਇਓ ਜਉ ਮੂਡੁ ਮੁਡਾਇਓ ਭਗਵਉ ਕੀਨੋ ਭੇਸ ।। ੧ ।। ਰਹਾਉ ।।
ਸਾਚੁ ਛਾਡਿ ਕੈ ਝੂਠਹਿ ਲਾਗਿਓ ਜਨਮ ਅਕਾਰਥੁ ਖੋਇਓ ।।
ਕਰਿ ਪਰਪੰਚ ਉਦਰੁ ਨਿਜ ਪੋਖਿਓ ਪਸੁ ਕੀ ਨਿਆਈ ਸੋਇਓ ।। ੧ ।।
ਰਾਮ ਭਜਨ ਕੀ ਗਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਨੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਹਾਥਿ ਬਿਕਾਨਾ ।।
ਉਰਝਿ ਰਹਿ ਬਿਖਿਅਨ ਸੰਗਿ ਬਉਰਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਤਨੁ ਬਿਸਰਾਨਾ ।। ੨ ।।
ਰਹਿਓ ਅਚੇਤੁ ਨ ਚੇਤਿਉ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਅਉਧ ਸਿਰਾਨੀ ।।
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਰਦੁ ਪਛਾਨਹੁ ਭੂਲੇ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਾਨੀ ।। ੩ ।। ੧੦ ।। ਪੰਨਾ ੬੩੩

man ray gahi-o na gur updays ।।
kahaa bha-i-o ja-o mood mudaa-i-o bhagva-o keeno bhays. ||1|| rahaa-o ।।
saach chhaad kai jhoothah laagi-o janam akaarath kho-i-o ।।
kar parpanch udar nij pokhi-o pas kee ni-aa-ee so-i-o. ||1||
raam bhajan kee gat nahee jaanee maa-i-aa haath bikaanaa ।।
urajh rahi-o bikhi-an sang ba-uraa naam ratan bisraanaa. ||2||
rahi-o achayt na chayti-o gobind birthaa a-oDh siraanee ।।
kaho naanak har birad pachhaana-o bhoolay sadaa paraanee. ||3||10||
meaning:
O mind, you have not accepted the Guru’s Teachings. What is the use of shaving your head, and wearing saffron robes? ||1||Pause||
Abandoning Truth, you cling to falsehood; your life is uselessly wasting away.Practicing hypocrisy, you fill your belly, and then sleep like an animal. ||1||
You do not know the Way of the Lord’s meditation; you have sold yourself into Maya’s hands. The madman remains entangled in vice and corruption; he has forgotten the jewel of the Naam. ||2||
He remains thoughtless, not thinking of the Lord of the Universe; his life is uselessly passing away. Says Nanak, O Lord, please, confirm your innate nature; this mortal is continually making mistakes. ||3||10||
