The Global Punjabi Association (GPA) marked the auspicious occasion of Janmashtami on Friday, August 15, 2025, with a well-attended online webinar that brought together community members from around the globe. Titled “Gita: a source of Inspiration,” the event served as a digital platform for spiritual reflection and cultural celebration, drawing participants from multiple time zones and continents.
The central highlight of the evening was the keynote address delivered by Shri Dinesh Sharma, a distinguished scholar renowned for his profound understanding of the Bhagavad Gita and its timeless teachings. Shri Sharma captivated the virtual audience with his eloquent discourse, focusing on how the ancient scripture remains profoundly relevant in navigating the complexities of modern life. He spoke at length about the Gita’s lessons on duty, mindfulness, and the pursuit of purpose, explaining how its principles can guide individuals in finding inner peace and resilience amidst daily challenges.
“The Gita isn’t just a religious text; it’s a manual for life,” Shri Sharma explained. “It teaches us that our purpose lies not in the fruits of our labour, but in the sincerity of our efforts. In a world fraught with stress and uncertainty, this is a message of immense comfort and power.”
The online format allowed for a seamless global gathering, with attendees actively participating in the Q&A session and expressing their gratitude for the insightful session. Following the address, a GPA representative expressed satisfaction with the event’s turnout and impact. “We are delighted to have provided a space for our community to come together and celebrate our cultural heritage,” the representative said. “The overwhelming response to Shri Sharma’s talk confirms the universal and enduring appeal of the Gita’s message.” The webinar concluded with a message of unity and a collective resolve to continue fostering spiritual and cultural connections within the global Punjabi diaspora.
